We need not remind our commercial readers; that óur firſt number demonſtrat=- ed our attention tò the proje&ted improviments of, thé por: of London. An abſtract ot.the A& for eſtabliſhing the Weit India Deck Company is to be« found in that and the ſuccceding number(p. p. 325 11/5,/V0I. 1.)— That We have ñot been careleſs in watching the progres ot the operations of that company may alſo be féen,(p. 388, vol. 1.)—Now that the ſimilar A& for the London Docks is allo paſſed, and that it is poſlible to preſentto the public eye ſuch:aſMkétch of the intended limits of theſe reſpective com- Pales, as may convey a clear idea of their reſpeétive ûtuations, and convé- nhuences, we-have cauſed thé annexed plate to be engraved, under no ſinall câréfulneſs of inſpéétioh:“Such abſtract of thé AŒÆ ás may be ſufficient for general information is here ſubjoined,
Abfiraët of the dé(paſſed 20th of June, 1800) for the Efatlifh-
ment of the London Dack Company. FT A\HE preamble ¡recites, that, whereas, it is expedient, for the accommodation and ſecurity of the lhipping,&c. of the
Port of London, that Wet Docks ſhould be made as near as
poſible to the City of London: and whereas, diverſe perſons
(recited by name) have entered into a ſubſcription for complet-
ing the ſaid works: that theſe perſons are incorporated as a joint
ſtock company, by the name of“ The London Dock Company.” 1 ja 4 EA The ſtock is madé’transferable: the dividends not tò 2xceed
‘the profits accruing, and unapplied. Vote of the ſubſcribers in
the following proportion; from 500. to I,o00!. to have one vote; I„O00! to 5,000/. two votes; 5,000/. to 10,coo!. three Votes; proprietors of above 10,0002. to have four votes, and no more. A general court to be held half-yearly; on the firſt Wedneſday of July, and the úrſt Wedneſday of January. Twelve months polleílion neceſiary to voting. Company may augment capital ſubſcribed to 1,200,000/. Calls not more than 10. Pe CENE At A time, and to be at leaſt two calendar months aſundér. Com- pany may borrow money(ſecured on the Dock income) to the amount of 300,000.
The a& then goes on to deſignate the limits of the Dock pro- perty; this paët is(of courſe) only intereſting to the proprietors. Company to make and maintain ſufficient Bridges for the accom- modation of the public highways: drains and ſewers alſo to be carefully eſtabliſhed. Power to purchaſe land and tenements granted to the company; if any: diſagreement on-cernis of Pur- chaſe, 2 jury is to determine.—If they eſtimate the Property at
