Pronomen Demonstrativum jäins, jäina, jäinata(ille) — engl. yon— vermittelſt des Lokalſuffirums d— Skr. dha— gebildet. Im Goth. hatte jaind die Bedeutung von zzerce oder illuc. cf. Grimm l. c. 3, 180; es war nur Adverb. Im Alteng. finden wir die Formen bezeonden, bezonden, bizende, bizande und bezonde.
Die Bedeutung entſpricht dem Lateiniſchen traus, ultra; gr. zega. In den romaniſchen Sprachen wendet man vielfach Verbindungen mit dem von illac abgeleiteten Ortsadverbium la an, ſo franz. au delà; ital. di là und auch oltre von ultra. Im Spaniſchen wendet man eine Verbindung mit lado(latus) nämlich en aquel lado de, welches ähnlich gebildet iſt wie das dän. paa denne side und das lett. wi' puss' von wina pusse jene Seite und ötre puss'(andere Seite). Auch im Engl. gebraucht man on this side und on the other side als Präpoſition. Beyond wird in drei Beziehungen angewandt.
