The thanks of the s0ciety were warmly voted to Sir John, for his zeal and attention; also to Dr. Archer, for a most liberal-offer to superintend, gratis, the, com. Mencement of Such an institution. The Doctor was appointed to that- service, with an assi 1
tant Committee; and to defray the ex- pence independent of the funds of the Society, a Subscription was opened, headed by donations of twenty guineas each, from the PresSident and the honourable baronet; and another of ten guineas from colonel Horner. /To these munificent aids, many-members added their contributions, making a Sum of 1252. and upwards. The gubscription list remains Still open, for additions, at' the Society's rooms, under the care of Mr. Mätthews: but the committee has authority immediately to forward the operations.
9- Thanks were unapimously voted to his Grace the Duke of Bedford, Jate president, for his past munificence, and the honour derived to the Society from his noble patronage; as also for his Grace's assurances of continued regard to the intersts of the Society: to the Right Hon. Lord Somerville, for his valuable exhibitions of cloth,&c. the produce of his Lordship's improving Britizh Me- rino locks, and for his continued declarations of attachment to the Society*s prösperity: to Dr. Parry, for his able exertions and im- Provements of the Merino and British wool: to all gentlemen con- cerned in.Similar pursuits; to all unsuccesful Candidates, for their respective exhibitions: to all aiding manufacturers of cloth: to the« Several committees for their Services: to the different lite- rary contributors to the tenth vohime of Memoirs, just published: and to Mr. Matthews, for his care and exertions in editing that volume, which now lies ready for delivery tg the Subscribers, or to their order.
10, The grateful and unanimous thanks of the Society were voted to the prezident,"Benjamin Hobhouse, Esg. M. P. F. R. S. for that regular, impartial, most able, and eloquent manner in which he con- ducted, as: Chairman, the numerous concerns of the preparatory meetings, and of this anniversary.
