30 Tastern Agricultural Report.[Det.

briensis and S. I Shall take leave to give my vote in fa vour of A. N.'Froim my long Silence, perhaps, 1 have Scarcely a right to give my opinion, but that Silence has anizen from my time being fully taken up'with my practical agricultural pursuits, and other avocations, and also from the wantof matter Sufficiently interesting to be worthy a place in your Magazine. But 1 will not relinquieh the honour of vonsidering myzelf one of your correspondents, as 1 can but deem it Such, when I refer generally to the communica- tions of your friends. Our crops here are very abundant, and well got up, except in the Northern part of th& county, towards ihe coast which are always later by a week or two than the more inland part; but there the crops are generally: go00d, and the last very fine week, must have brought the harvest nearly to a conclusion. The new wheat is of good quality and quantity ona all our varieties of Soil, but the bar- leys on the heavy lands are very inferior to those on lands of a higher quality. Tue turnips every where have looked. well, but the late very dry weather has caused the appearance of mildew, especially in the first S0own erops, which 1 am in-

eiined to think will Sustain much ipjury, unless the weather

Should very Soon change from its present very dry State, The price of the very bezt new wheat at Norwich market

yesterday did not exceed seventy-Six Shillings per quarter,

barley thirty-five Sbillings per quarter, with a general disin-

clination to purchase on the part of the millers, and a very

apparent eagerness oD that of the iarmers to Sell. I have al-

ways been inclined 10 think that threshing mills will prove

injurous to the agricultural world; as Soon as a drop takes

Place, to work go the machines; a vast quantity of corn is; Suddenly got out, the market is glutted, and of course down

comes the price lower and jower, 1 could 8ayv more on this Ssub-

Ject, but must postpone it to Some future opportunity.

1 amz Your obedient Servant,

Norfolk, Oct. 6 1803., PF.
