OBSERVATIONS.

During the last twenty years, great improvements have been made throughout Great Britain, in the important art of PREN including the skill ot the ploughman, be excel- ence ofthe team, and the construction ot the plough.

These improvements have been chiefly occasioned by the ploughing watches established in various parts of the kingdom, which have excited general attention and emulation, in this most important brauch of husbandry.

Abridgement of labour and Saving of expence, have been the consequences of these wials, which have also, in a like proportion, produced better work.

It Seems to be the best opinion, that the first purpose of these ploughing matches Should be==-to train up good plough- men, and that, to do this, the excellence of their work Should be the first object of attention: the quickness of the execution Should only be a Secondary consideration.

In the next place, the teams employed, Should be carefully adverted to. Horses of equal Size, Strength, aud Speed, Should be used together, and trained to the busSiness.

Our farmers borses are in Common very unequally matched, their teaws are composed of heavy and light hoerses of Yartous breeds, height, and Strength.
