DESCRIPTION OE A PLOUGH FOR CUTTING GRASS SOVS; INVENTED BY COUNT VON MALTZEN.
[WITH A PLATE ANNEXED.]
HE Count Von Maltzen, of Lissa near Breslaw, has lately invented a Plough for the cutting of GrassSods, which has been found very advantageous,
For zome time he had been considering how to cut sods for his grass plats, in a cheaper mode thag heretofore practised: after many trials, he found this machine to answer most eflicaciously.
For the formation of this machine, the beam, or fore part of any plough wiil answer; therefore no! particular drawing of this partis necdssary, but merely that ot the hinder part; and in respect to its use, it can be managed and regulated by any Hoy accustomed to the use.of a plough. j/
In Fig. 1 and 2, the nine holes in the pole or beam A A, Serve, in like manner as the common plough, to set the beam. Shorter or longer, by placing the pin C forwärds ox backwards, and thereby to make the iron to work deeper.
The two coulters E E, placed one on each ide, in front of the cutting iron D; serve to give the Side cut preparatory to the Separation ofthe 5od. The cutting iron D, may, by means of thescrews G G, be raised or lowered at discretion.|
In order to Keep it in its proper place, the two Supports af H are made, and provided tor the purpose, with Several holes at I, made in the cutting iron D.'Phe two handles are Shewn by K K, and the frame by LL LL: all.the rest which in the frame is marked black, means that it is to be made of ron.-,
Some practice is required to use the plough, and in the com- mencement particular care Should be taken that the person do not take the 5ods too deep, that the plough may nöt be hurt by their inattention.
Li» a Short time they will be in Sufficient practice, and.the machine will do its work Satisfactorily. Aa the working park
