WW, more than the value* of its carcase, as a Store Sheep. Its 14 daw, fatted, would not exceed 8 or 9 Ib. per quarter, carry- | ing a fleece of about 13 Ib. The offspring is now the pre- | perty of an intelhgent member of he Bath Society; and this | breed is 80 much a favourite with him, that be has lately pur- || chased Some additional ewes, to constitute part of his inter- breeding flock.

| I rather regret that hitherto I have had no opportunity of | making trial witb very large Sheep, Such as the Lincoln,&c- || but conjecture the fleece of the first cross would greatly exceed that of therewe; and am persuaded, the value of the wool would be nearly doubled, still preserving, perbaps, a guitable Staple as combing wool.

91 BLIGHT IN WHEAT.

| To the Editor of the Agricultural Magazine.

4/|| Si1R,

| FYDHE blight in wheat has been this year 50 generally

| destructive, that I cannot avoid noticing an expedient

|! first employed in Yorkshire, to which great Success has been

KN attributed. An ounce of arsenic, cautiousty pulverized, is

put into four pints of pure water, with an equal. quantity of

urine- The Seed wheat is immerged in this preparation,

| j| until the downy Substance, at the extremity of the grain, is

MN! gaturated with the liquid. The principal objection to this

(114191) Process, Is Ihe pvisonous Substance concerned in the mixture, | and 1 am Sometimes joclined to think, however effectual the

remedy, it ought not on this account to be resorted to.

As 1 am on this Subject, notwithstanding the multiplica- tion of these Sort of recipes, 1 will not omit to notice another, which 1 believe is entitled to peculiar attention, and which 111 is objectionable for the Same reason, although not to the Same degree with the former. Lt 18 a compound of 1wo parts of allum, and one ot blue vitriol.

I have Seen a letter from Sussex, mentioning, that an in- | genious husbandman in the neighbourbood of Lewes, has discovered the meavs of avoiding this destructive principle, by the use of which he proposes to Secure the wheat, at a gwai] premium, from this noxions enemy T.
