Lewes annual Wool Fair.
This fair was well attended the beginning of this month, by the London and other wool-ſtaplers, but as uſual, no buſineſs was done before dinner. Lord Sheffield, who prefided, having propoſed tke health of Sir Joſeph Banks, as a principal promoter ot theſe meetings, expreſſed great concern at his abſence, occaſioned by a fit of thg gout, eſpecially as there was no man better informed on the buſineſs moſt imerelting to thole who were aflembled, and who would have communicated more complete information on every part of the ſubjet. His Lordſhip then ſtated, that he had not obtained Very cem» plete intelligence relpetting the Roſs Fair, but that he had acquired ſome knowledge of what had paſſed at the Thetford Fair, which might be more intereſting to the meeting, as a conſiderable quantity of wool ot the South Down breed wag/1old there.
