To these we must Submit a few personal observations.

As a publication of this nature can zalone maintain 2ts Superiority among the fugitive productions of the times, by a concentration of general talent, we have Seen-with Ppar- ticular pleaSsure, not only a rapid inerease in our epistolary connections, but a disposition on the part of our friends to insure the reception of the work, by the continued exertion of mature abilities. If among the multiplicity of commu- nications with which we have been indulged, we have been obliged to cxelude a considerable portion, we hope it wall be remembered, that this excluSion has been permitted on very few 0ccas10N5» excepting when the discusStons have been directed to matters unconnected with the nature of our undertaking, or when that temperance has nv! been Cc6r» rectly preserved, wlich our respect io our correspondents will ever dispose us inviolably to maintain.
