I. Zur Geſcehiehte der Anſtalt.

A. Die Lehrerverhältniſſe betreffend.

Die Anſtalt erhielt in Herrn Sprachlehrer Milne, welcher nach Aufhebung der hieſigen Cadettenſchule an das Realgymnaſium dirigirt wurde, für den Unter richt in den neuern Sprachen einen neuen Zuwachs. Deſſen Biographie folgt hier nach:

Born an Englishman in the year 1792, brought up and educated in France, which country I left in the year 1811 to visit Italy, where I tra- velled as student: arrived at Naples in the spring of 1812, under the, pro- tection of my Uncle, who had been sent and encouraged by Napoleon to

introduce in that Country, the indigo, Sugar cane and the cotton tree, K to form a Colony. In Naples, I engaged myself in a College, as teacher of languages; soon after I was called in a private family as Governor.

In the year 1816, I returned to Paris on my way to England: there I gave Italian and French lessons to the nobility and gentry: In the year

1820 I was chosen member of a Philosophical Society or Institution.

In February 1826, I received a letter dated from Paris, in which I was informed that Mr. Fabricius, who whas then Chargé d'Affaires for Nassau, had been inquiring after me and wished to know if I choose to leave England to be appointed as private teacher at the Court of the Duke of Nassau; upon which I took a trip to Paris, and settled the business. Arrived at Biebrich at the end of March, I was soon introduced to the Duke William& his Serene family, whom I served till the year 1837.
