MACHINE FOR WEIGHING LIVE CATILE. [WITH A PLATE ANNEXED,]

HE very useful machine, of which we here present out readers an exact drawing, is a modern invention. Its intent is, by weighing calves, Sheep, or pigs, alive, at Stated periods, during their feeding, to ascertain their exact or com- Parative progress, in weight and improvement; farther, it en« ables the feeder to determine, to a Sufficient degree ot accu- racy, the weight and consequent market-worth of his stock, when ready for Sale, either by weighing one or more average individuals of a lot, or the whole of them, if the number be Small; deducting from one Sixth to One gifth of the living weight» Mr. Lawrence, in his late Treatise, Seems 10 Sights the uses of tbis machine, but to others less aceustomed to judge practically of the weight of stock by the eye and hand, Such an assiStant must, doubtless, be ot considerable utility; and we believe the cost of the implement does not exceed two or three pounds. Those who have been hurt in the Sale of their Stock, will'feel their advantage and future Security, in the posSession of a guide of tbis kind, which will also materi- ally kelp them, in determining the comparative merits of in- dividuals or breeds, during the fattening process.

. DESCRIPTION.

By this contrivance, any 5mall animal may be very easily and expeditiously weighed, agd at the Same ume with a Suflicient degree of accuracy.
