The preceding list contains an account of the cattle in Smithfield, which have lately been exhibited by the candi- dates for the annual prizes. The gix names of the Successful breeders are well known to the agricultural world: and we wiseh the zeal wbhieh these friends to improvement have Shewn, was more generally diffused. It will be geen with azlonishment, that the four first prizes for horned cattle were asSigned to Mr. Westcar: that five other Prizes were awarded to the Duke of Bedford; and that so little has been the Spirit of competition, that only four prizes have been reserved for the general mass of breeders, viz. the Second prize for the Ox, In the Second class, determined in favour of Mr. Edmonds, the prizes for the fifth and Sixth claszes, consisting of wethers, given to Messrs. Chandler and Rogers, and tor the ninth class, which includes the swine, to Mr. Whittle.
