Péteiſburgh fax fill remains at the price of 68. per ton. Thar of Riga and Narva has tallen trom 67/. to 65!. per ton. Clean emp from Peterſburgh is now at 464. ber ton, and h gher than in the end of laft month, Other ſorts of hemp are now lower than thèy were, laſt month.

Sugars lee to begin to riſe in price. And thcir prices will probably con- tiñue to riſe, till new:upplics ſhall have been received from the Weſt Indies. The pretcnr war with the Blacks and Mulattocsin the French Weſt India iſles muſt tend to enhance the price eſpecially of the clayced ſugars oi St. Do- mingo,

Nhe prices of indigoes, that article of ſuch importance to our woollen ma- nufaciures, have riicn fince the endo. March. The(tate of the prices of this dyeing ſuf malt always depend much on the Eat India Company's ſales and on the arrivals ot cargocs trom the Welt Indies.

Britiſh ¿roz in bars, was, on the 23d of March at 18!. per ton, in the Lon- don market. Oa the 23d of April, it had riſen to 22/. a ton. Britiſh pig- iron has rufen, in the ame interval, trom s!. 10s. to 71. 106. a ton. Old ſable iron which was a month fince at the price of 242. 10s. for the lame quantity, is now at 28/, The quantity of ircn uſed in âllour manufaQures becomes continually greater. So, the prices of rhe metal will not be diminiſhed, nor will the working of our ¡ron-mines be diſcouraged, by that event which calls Us to convert our ſwords to plough-ſharese, and our ſpears into pruning- hooks, , The price of manu aQured copper has lately rifen from 15. 54. to 15. 6d. per lib.

Theprices of hides, and of learher have, alſo, riſen. The raw hide of Buenos Ayres is now at 814. per lib. The dreſſed hidé is at 1s. 5d. or 64. a lib.

The price of madder has fallen greatly. That ot the Dutch crop is at four guineas t'ecut. It was a month ſince, as high as sf. per cwt.

Mohair yarn and Smyrna avo0! have lately became dearer.

Therates of inſurance to almolt ail ports on the Mediterranean have fallen, ïn the courſe of April and fince the ratification vf tbe peacc,

The price ot læer has, alſo, fallen in London. New dollars Were, on the 23d of March, at 5s, 84. per oz. They are now at 5s. 7d. orly. The price of /lwer in bars has, within the ſame interval, fallen from 5s. 114d. to 5s. 914.

In our intercourſe with che Continent, the Courſe cf Excha, ge is almoß every where ſomewhat more in tavour of this country than it was in the month ot March. Our vaft remittances to foreign countries for public pur- poſes have ceaſed, Our exports in trade continue or are increaſed. And hence there is or will ſpeedily be% balance to be remitted trom moſt of the other emporia in Europe to the Engliſh capital, The exchange with Dublin is alſo in our favour; and 15. only muſt be paid in London tor 15. oi. to be'- ceived in Ireland.

Among the imports into the port of London, in the-week ending on the 23d of April, were 1850 burr-(tones for mills from France, 107,250 oranges from St. Michael's, 35,000 lib. of Spaniſh wool fiom Seville, 1052 cwt. of hams from Holland, a large quantity ot American cotton, 2000 lib. of ſtrong tanned leather from France, 35,000 lib, of tohaccofrom Jamaica, 2,195 lib, of ſnuff trom Heiland, 57,713 gallons of wine from Oporto, a good deal of linen and lin-n-yarn from Hamburgh, 597,500 quills and 34 êwt. of honey from Holland.

We expeét with ſome impatience, the news from the Eaſter fairs in Ger- many.

The quantity of gum-ſenegal annually conſumed in Europe, is about 2,000,000 lb.- Of this about 600,000 lib. are imported by the Britiſh from the road of Portendic on the Senegal coat. The reſt, about 1,400,000 lib. is brought hv rhe F-»nch fron their lettlements on iſles in the river of Senegal, Iron, brandy, glaſs, toys, ſweet-meats, liner. and woollen cloths, hams, cheeſe, and ialted bect, are the commodities whichthe French give in exchange to the, Nat ves ot three tribes of wandering Moors by whom they are fupplied with this gums
