Relative. ſituation, Boundaries, Extent.

IQ 1NRO33-SHIRE 15 a very ſmall inland county, bounded on the eaſt and-ſouth by Fifeſhire; and on the north and weſt

by Perthſhire. It extends from eaſt to weſt, from the church

of Foſlſaway, due eaſt, to Auchmore bridge, the length of

114 miles 3; and ſrom Kelty bridge, nearly due north, to Damhead, 93 miles.: The general figure of the county 1s ſomewhat circular, although the line of its boundary is very irregular. That which limits with Perthihire on the weſt and north, meaſures 21 miles 3 but when taken in a general ſweep, it extends to no more than about 14. The boundary with Fife meaſures nearly 28 miles 3; but in a Lraight line 1c does not exceed 19-

The county contains 78 ſquare miles(as has been aſcer- tained, after aQual meaſurement, by Mr. J. Bell), or about 39,702 acres Scotch meaſure, making about one fiſth more according to the Engliſh*.
