And although, through the means of that assistance which I asked for, in vain, I might have finished my Survey, in a shorter time, it is doubtful, whether the information, thereby collected, would have been equally useful, as that which has been furnished, ina more INCIDENTAL manner: for, in that case, two of the three main branches of rural knowledge would, pro- bably, have been omitted, or slightly touch- ed on.*
