THE difference of weights and meaſures in this county are ſo many, that if they cannot with OBEY be called obſtacles, they may with truth be termed incumbrances to the general in- tercourſe of bufineſs, and clear comprehenſion of what time-an under ſimular terms, but with diferent ideas annexed to them, according to the object.

The rod in Lancaſhire is of no leſs than fix diferent lengths in different parts of the county; namely, the ſtatute or 5 È yards, 6, 61, 7, 72, and eight yards, to the rod, pole, or perch*,
