I conclude this part of the ſubje(&t by obſerving, that if the taper of one axle be leſs than that of another, the axle whoſe taper is ſmalleſt will require to

be farther bent down, in order to give

the ſame pair of wheels the ſame gather

below, or to put the wheels in the ſame

poſition; and the additional bend that

muſt be given for this purpoſe is juſt

equal to one half of the difference of the ¿wo tapers.
