A considerable degree of research is observable in these pages, and the fair authoress has given a great charm to her work by the pleasantness of her style. The work cannot fail to prove highly successful, as affording very much interesting information respecting a nation about whom there is so little popular knowledge.- Weekly Chronicle.
We wish Miss Corner as much success, in reference to this work, as she has had with regard to her other publications.- Church and State Gazette.
This work appears to possess all the clearness of arrangement, gracefulness of style, and interest of fact, which have rendered Miss Corner's" Histories" so highly popular.- Post Magazine.
No expense appears to be spared by the publishers to make it a handsome, as well as an interesting volume.Shipping Gazette.
If the succeeding numbers of this work are as ably éxecuted as the one before us, the entire volume will be a very valuable contribution to historical literature.Sentinel.
This work, which is written with care and ability, is richly illustrated with wood engravings, representing, with great spirit and seeming truth, the scenery and people of this singular country.- John Bull.
Miss Corner's historical summaries afford a sufficient guarantee for this work, which embraces many interesting details, is well printed, and pleasingly illustrated, partly with wood- cuts, and partly with engravings on stone.Wesleyan Chronicle.
No one is better able than the fair authoress to render such a subject attractive; and on the present occasion she has been liberally aided in their department by the publishers.- Indian News.
This work cannot fail, at such a period, to prove highly attractive.- Nuval and Military Gazette.
So far as we can judge from the part now before us, the work will equal in value, and perhaps surpass in interest, any of Miss Corner's former works. We wish the work success.- Watchman.
