THE SON, AND THE HOLY GHOST. 14

2 My thoughts, before they are my own, Are to my God distinctly known; He knows the words I mean to speak, Ere from my op'ning lips they break. 3 Within thy circling power I stand; On ev'ry side I find thy hand: Awake, asleep, at home, abroad, I am surrounded still with God. 4 Amazing knowledge, vast and great! What large extent! what lofty height! My soul, with all the powers I boast, Is in the boundless prospect lost.

5 Search me, O Lord! and know my heart; Try me, and prove each inward part; Show me my sin, and by thy grace Lead me in thine eternal ways.

PSALM XC. 1-6.

10 GOD, our help in ages past, Our hope for years to come, Our shelter from the stormy blast, And our eternal home!

2 Under the shadow of thy throne Thy saints have dwelt secure: Sufficient is thine arm alone, And our defence is sure. 3 Before the hills in order stood, Or earth receiv'd her frame, From everlasting Thou art God, To endless years the same. 4 A thousand ages in thy sight Are like an ev'ning gone; Short as the watch that ends the night Before the rising sun.

5 Time, like an ever- rolling stream, Bears all its sons away: They fly, forgotten, as a dream Dies at the op'ning day.
