THE HOLY SCRIPTURES.

5

Thy statutes have been my songs. Ps. cxix. 54. C. M.

FATHER of Mercies, in thy word What endless glory shines! For ever be thy name ador'd For these celestial lines.

2 Here the Redeemer's welcome voice Spreads heavenly peace around; And life and everlasting joys Attend the blissful sound.

3 Here springs of consolation rise, To cheer the fainting mind: And thirsty souls receive supplies, Bel And sweet refreshment find.

4 Oh may these heavenly pages be Our ever dear delight! And still new beauties may we see, And still increasing light.

5 Divine Instructor, gracious Lord, Be thou for ever near; Teach us to love thy sacred word, T And view a Saviour there!

Second 5 Wherewithal shall a young,& c. Ps. cxix. 9. C. M 1 How shall the young preserve their ways From all pollution free?

By striving, Lord, to make their lives With thy commands agree.

2 With my whole heart for thee I seek, To thee for help I pray; co2 Oh suffer not my careless steps$ 1 From thy right paths to stray. 3 Safe in my heart, and closely hid, Thy word, my treasure, lies; To succour me with timely aid, When sinful thoughts arise. 4 By this secur'd, my grateful soul Shall ever bless thy name; h Then teach me, by thy holy law, My future life to frame.
