EVENING PRAYER.
by thought, word, and deed, against Thy Divine Majesty, provoking most justly Thy wrath and indignation against us. We have neglected Thy great salvation vouchsafed unto us in Jesus Christ: We are called by His name, but we have not hearkened unto His voice; We have broken our vows made unto Thee in our baptism, wherein we were made members of the body of Thy Son, and partakers of thy Holy Spirit; We have separated ourselves from one another, destroying the unity of Thy Holy Church; We have forgotten the hope of Thy Kingdom, and this hope hath not purified us as He is pure; have not praised Thee for Thy goodness, nor rendered unto Thee the glory due unto Thy Holy Name.
We
We do earnestly repent, and are heartily sorry for these our misdoings; the remembrance of them is grievous unto us; the burden of them is intolerable. Have mercy upon us; have mercy upon us, most merciful Father; for Thy Son our Lord Jesus Christ's sake, forgive us all that is past, and especially the sins of this day. And grant that we may ever hereafter serve and please Thee in newness of life, to the honour and glory of Thy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. R. Amen.
