THE PLEASANTNESS OF RELIGION
HYMN 11.
L. M.
GOD,
the offended God Most High, Ambassadors to rebels sends; His messengers his place supply, And Jesus begs us to be friends.
2 Us, in the stead of Christ, they pray, Us, in the stead of God, entreat, To cast our arms, our sins, away, And find forgiveness at his feet.
3 Our God in Christ! thine embassy, And proffer'd mercy, we embrace; And gladly reconciled to thee,
Thy condescending mercy praise.
4 Poor debtors, by our Lord's request, A full acquittance we receive! And criminals, with pardon blest, We, at our Judge's instance, live!
SECTION II.
1. DESCRIBING THE PLEASANTNESS OF RELIGION.
HYMN 12.
D. S. M.
1
COME, ye that love the Lord,
And let your joys be known; Join in a song with sweet accord, While ye surround his throne: Let those refuse to sing,
Who never knew our God; But servants of the Heavenly King May speak their joys abroad.
