FOR MOURNERS
Thy mystery of grace display;
Open mine eyes that I may see, That I may understand thy word, And now cry out-" It is the Lord!"
114 JESU

in whom the weary find Their late, but permanent repose, Physician of the sin- sick mind,
Relieve my wants, assuage my woes; And let my soul on thee be cast, Till life's fierce tyranny be past.
2 Loosed from my God, and far removed, Long have I wandered to and fro, O'er earth in endless circles roved, Nor found whereon to rest below: Back to my God at last I fly, For O, the waters still are high!

3 Selfish pursuits, and nature's maze, The things of earth, for thee I leave; Put forth thy hand, thy hand of grace,
Into the ark of love receive, Take this poor fluttering soul to rest, And lodge it, Saviour, in thy breast. 4 Fill with inviolable peace,
' Stablish and keep my settled heart; In thee may all my wanderings cease, From thee no more may I depart; Thy utmost goodness called to prove, Loved with an everlasting love!
Am freely saved by grace; Other title I disclaim; This, only this, is all my plea,
I the chief of sinners am,
But Jesus died for me.
Their works of righteousness; I, a wretch undone and lost,
And give the praise to him;
Meanest follower of the Lamb, His steps I at a distance see;
I the chief of sinners am, But Jesus died for me.

2 Happy they whose joys abound
Like Jordan's swelling stream,
Who their heaven in Christ have found,
3 I, like Gideon's fleece, am found Unwatered still, and dry, While the dew on all around Falls plenteous from the sky; Yet my Lord I cannot blame, The Saviour's grace for all is free; I the chief of sinners am, But Jesus died for me.
CONVINCED OF SIN.
4 Surely he will lift me up,
For I of him have need, I cannot give up my hope, Though I am cold and dead; To bring fire on earth he came, O that it now might kindled be! I the chief of sinners am, But Jesus died for me.
5 Jesus, thou for me hast died, And thou in me shalt live,
I shall feel thy death applied, I shall thy life receive: Yet, when melted in the flame Of love, this shall be all my plea, I the chief of sinners am, But Jesus died for me.

1 AVIOUR, cast a pitying eye,
Bid my sins and sorrows end; Whither should a sinner fly?
Art not thou the sinner's friend? Rest in thee I gasp to find, Wretched I, and poor, and blind.
2 Haste, 0 haste, to my relief! From the iron furnace take; Rid me of my sin and grief,
For thy love and mercy's sake; Set my heart at liberty, Show forth all thy power in me 3 Me, the vilest of the race,
Me, the farthest from thy face, Full of misery and sin; Me with arms of love receive, Me, of sinners chief, forgive!
4 Jesus, on thine only name For salvation I depend, In thy gracious hands I am, Save me, save me to the end; Let the utmost grace be given, Save me quite from hell to heaven.

OD is in this and every place;
To me' tis one great wilderness, This earth without my God.
2 Empty of him who all things fills,
Till he his light impart,
Till he his glorious self reveals,
The veil is on my heart.
116
4 Regard me with a gracious eye, The long- sought blessing give; And bid me, at the point to die, Behold thy face and live.
30 thou who seest and know'st my grief,
Thyself unseen, unknown!
Pity my helpless unbelief,
And take away the stone.
117
5 Now, Jesus, now, the Father's love Shed in my heart abroad: The middle wall of sin remove, And let me into God.

To thee, who wouldst not have me But know the truth and live; įdie, Open mine eyes to see thy face, Work in my heart the saving grace, The life eternal give.
