" Where two or three are met in my name,"& c.- Matt. xviii. 20. How sweet to leave the world awhile, And seek the presence of the Lord! Dear Saviour, on thy people smile, And come according to thy word.

2 From busy scenes we now retreat, That we may here converse with thee; Ah, Lord, behold us at thy feet!

Let this the" gate of heaven" be. 3" Chief of ten thousand," now appear, That we by faith may see thy face! O speak, that we thy voice may hear, And let thy presence fill this place. 4 Then let the worldling boast his joys, We've meat to eat he knows not of; We count his treasures worthless toys, While we possess a Saviour's love.

" It is manna."- Exod. xvi. 15-21; 2 Cor. viii. 15.

THE manna, favor'd Israel's meat, Was gather'd day by day; When all the host was served, the heat Melted the rest away.

NEWTON.

2 In vain to hoard it up they tried,

Against to- morrow came; It then bred worms and putrefied; And proved their sin and shame. So truths by which the soul is fed Must e'er be had afresh; For notions resting in the head Will only feed the flesh.

4 Nor can the best experience past The life of faith maintain;
