Sacramental Hymns.
The vile, the lost, he calls to them, Ye trembling souls, appear! The righteous in their own esteem Have no acceptance here.
Approach, ye poor, nor dare refuse The banquet spread for you; Dear Saviour, this is welcome news, Then I may venture too.
If guilt and sin afford a plea, And may obtain a place, Surely the Lord will welcome me, And I shall see his face.
At the Communion Table.
FORTH from the dark and stormy sky, Lord, to thine altar's shade we fly; Forth from the world, its hope and fear, Saviour, we seek thy shelter here: Weary and weak, thy grace we pray; Turn not, O Lord! thy guests away.
Long have we roam'd in want and pain: Long have we sought thy rest in vain; Wilder'd in doubt, in darkness lost, Long have our souls been tempest- tost; Low at thy feet our sins we layTurn not, O Lord! thy guests away!
