ALMSGIVING.

Thou givest all.

Mock'd, afflicted, scourged, impri- Thou didst not spare Thine only Son, son'd, [ sword, But gav'st Him for a world undone, Stoned, tormented, slain with And freely with that Blessèd One They have conquer'd death and Satan By the might of Christ the Lord. Marching with Thy cross their banner, They have triumph'd, following Thee, the Captain of Salvation,

Thee, their Saviour and their King; Gladly, Lord, with Thee they suffer'd; Gladly, Lord, with Thee they died;

They were born and glorified. Now they reign in heavenly glory, Now they walk in golden light; Now they drink as from a river, Holy bliss and infinite; Love and peace they taste for ever, And all truth and knowledge see In the beatific vision

Of the Blessèd Trinity. God of God, the One- begotten,

Light of Light, Emmanuel, In whose body join'd together All the saints for ever dwell, Pour upon us of Thy fulness,

That we may for evermore God the Father, God the Son, and

God the Holy Ghost adore. Amen. Almsgiving. 428 FOUNTAIN of good, to own

Thy love

Our thankful hearts incline; What can we render, Lord, to Thee, When all the worlds are Thine? But Thou hast needy brethren here, Partakers of Thy grace, [ fess Whose humble names Thou wilt conBefore Thy Father's face. In their sad accents of distress Thy pleading voice is heard:[ fed, In them Thou may'st be clothed, and And visited, and cheer'd.

Thy face with reverence and with love

We in Thy poor would see; For, while we minister to them, We do it, Lord, to Thee. Amen. 429 0 LORD of heaven and earth

and sea,

To Thee all praise and glory be; How shall we show our love to Thee, Giver of all?

The golden sunshine, vernal air, Sweet flowers and fruit, Thy love

declare;

Thou giv'st the Holy Spirit's dower, Spirit of life and love and power, And dost His sevenfold graces shower Upon us all.

For souls redeem'd, for sins forgiven, For means of grace and hopes of heaven,

What can to Thee, O Lord, be given, Who givest all?

We lose what on ourselves we spend, We have as treasure without end, Whatever, Lord, to Thee we lend, Who givest all.

Whatever, Lord, we lend to Thee Repaid a thousandfold will be, Then gladly will we give to Thee, Giver of all;

To Thee, from whom we all derive Our life, our gifts, our power to give. Oh may we ever with Thee live, Giver of all. Amen.

FOR HOSPITALS.

430 THOU to whom the sick and

dying

Where harvests ripen, Thou art there,

Giver of all.

For peaceful homes and healthful days,

For all the blessings earth displays, Weowe Thee thankfulness and praise, Giver of all 105

Ever came, nor came in vain, Still with healing word replying To the wearied cry of pain,

Hear us, Jesus, as we meet Suppliants at Thy mercy- seat. Still the weary, sick, and dying Need a brother's, sister s care, On Thy higher help relying May we now their burden share, Bringing all our offerings meet Suppliants at Thy mercy- seat. May each child of Thine be willing, Willing both in hand and heart, All the law of love fulfilling, Ever comfort to impart;

Ever bringing offerings meet Suppliant to Thy mercy- seat. So may sickness, sin, and sadness To Thy healing virtue yield, Till the sick and sad, in gladness, Rescued, ransom'd, cleansèd, heal'd, One in Thee together meet, Pardon'd at Thy judgment- seat.

Amen.

Whate'er the gift may be:

431 WE give Thee but Thine own, All that we have is Thine alone, A trust, 0 Lord, from Thee. May we Thy bounties thus As stewards true receive, And gladly as Thou blessest us, To Thee our first- fruits give. Oh, hearts are bruised and dead, And homes are bare and cold,
