BUNDAYS AFTER TRINITY: What though the tempest rage, Heaven is my home, Short is my pilgrimage,
Heaven is my home. And time's wild wintry blast Soon will be overpast
I shall reach home at last, Heaven is my home. There at my Saviour's side, Heaven is my home, I shall be glorified,
Heaven is my home. Where all the saints of God, After life's weary road, Have their divine abode, There is my home. Therefore I'll murmur not, Heaven is my home, Whate'er my earthly lot,
Heaven is my home. For I shall surely stand
Far from my home, on life's rough way, Oh teach me from my heart to say, Thy will be done.
Onward goes the pilgrim band, There at my Lord's right hand- Singing songs of expectation, Heaven is my Fatherland,
Heaven is my home. Amen. 371 My God, my Father, while I
Marching to the promised land. Clear before us through the darkness Gleams and burns the guiding light; Brother clasps the hand of brother,
stray,
Though dark my path and sad my lot, Let me be still and murmur not; Or breathe the prayer divinely taught, Thy will be done.
What though in lonely grief I sigh For friends beloved no longer nigh, Submissive still would I reply,
Thy will be done.
WARFARE AND PILGRIMAGE
Sing, ye little flock and blest: You on Jesus' throne shall rest There your seat is now prepared, There your kingdom and reward. Lift your eyes, ye sons of light; Zion s city is in sight;
There our endless home shall be, There our Lord we soon shall see. Fear not, brethren; joyful stand On the borders of your land; Christ, the everlasting Son, Bids you undismay'd go on. Lord, obediently we go, Gladly leaving all below: Only Thou our Leader be, And we still will follow Thee.
If Thou should st call me to resign What most I prize, it ne'er was mine; I only yield Thee what is Thine; Thy will be done.
Amen.
373 THROUGH the night of doubt
and sorrow,
Stepping fearless through the night. One the light of God's own presence Chasing far the gloom and terror, O'er His ransom'd people shed, One the object of our journey, Brightening all the path we tread:
One the faith which never tires, One the earnest looking forward, One the hope our God inspires: One the strain that lips of thousands Lift as from the heart of one; One the conflict, one the peril, One the march in God begun:
One the gladness of rejoicing On the far eternal shore, Where the One Almighty Father Reigns in love for evermore. Onward, therefore, pilgrim brothers, Onward with the cross our aid; Bear its shame, and fight its battle, Till we rest beneath its shade. Soon shall come the great awaking; Soon the rending of the tomb; Then the scattering of all shadows, And the end of toil and gloom.
Let but my fainting heart be blest With Thy sweet Spirit for its guest, My God, to Thee I leave the rest ,Thy will be done.
Renew my will from day to day, Blend it with Thine, and take away All that now makes it hard to say, Thy will be done. Then, when on earth I breathe no The prayer, oft mix'd with tears [ before, I'll sing upon a happier shore,
more,
Amen.
Thy will be done. Amen.
