Ordination and Quict Days. 595 COME, Holy Ghost, our souls inspire,

And lighten with celestial fire. Thou the anointing Spirit art, Who dost Thy sevenfold gifts impart. Thy blessèd unction from above Is comfort, life, and fire of love. Enable with perpetual light The dulness of our blinded sight. Anoint and cheer our soilèd face With the abundance of Thy grace. Keep far our foes, give peace at home: Where Thou art guide, no ill can come. Teach us to know the Father, Son, And Thee of both to be but One, That, through the ages all along, This may be our endless song;

Praise to Thy eternal merit, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.

Then, when our work is finish'd here,

In humble hope our charge resign! When the Chief Shepherd shall appear,

O God, may they and we be Thine. Amen.

To watch and pray, and never faint, By day and night strict guard to keep;

To warn the sinner, cheer the saint, Nourish Thy lambs, and feed Thy sheep. 143

To rest awhile with Thee.

The courts of heaven were lost to view,

But here the veil is rent in two; The world had come between; We see the things unseen.

Our sins, in Thy pure light descried, Stand out in dread array; But here in love's absolving tide Their guilt is wash'd away.

Our troublous way we trod; But cast ourselves, this holy morn, Into the peace of God.
