Which formerly were Holidays of Obligation, and which, though the obligation of hearing Mass and of abstaining from servile work on them has ceased, ought still to be kept with solemnity. All the week- days of Lent, beginning on Ash- Wednesday. The Wednesdays and Fridays in Advent.
Ember- days, four times a year, viz., the Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays
1. Next after the first Sunday in Lent;
2. In Whitsun- week;
3. Next after the fourteenth of September;
4. Next after the third Sunday of Advent.
DAYS OF ABSTINENCE FROM FLESH MEAT.
Abstinence Days in Great Britain on which flesh- meat is for bidden:-The Sundays in Lent, unless a dispensation be granted and all Fridays throughout the year, except Christmas Day.
