TIMES AND SEASONS: SPECIAL OCCASIONS.

L.M.

4 And not this land alone, But be Thy mercies known From shore to shore:

The glory of the Lord filled the house.-2 Chron. 7. 1.

1 A CHILDREN's temple here we build,

And dedicate it, Lord, to Thee;

In hope that with Thy presence filled These humble walls henceforth may be.

2 When Christ, Thy holy Child, was born, He had not where to lay His head; Though King of kings. He did not scorn The meanness of a manger bed.

3 He, who the throne of glory shares, Came down, that we, through sovereign love,

Might be God's children and God's heirs, Joint- heirs with Him in bliss above.

4 And here, where simple souls are taught To know and do His Father's will,

Or infants to His arms are brought, He welcomes all, and blesses still.

3 Come, Holy Ghost, while we draw nigh, Such life and power to us afford, That each may Abba, Father, cry, And young and old call Jesus, Lord.

J. MONTGOMERY.

We rest on Thee.- 2 Chron. 14. 11.

1 GOD, bless our native land; May Heaven's protecting hand Still guard our shore; May peace her power extend, Foe be transformed to friend, And Britain's rights depend On war no more.

2 Through every changing scene, O Lord, preserve our King; Long may he reign; His heart inspire and move With wisdom from above; And in a nation's love

His throne maintain.

13 May just and righteous laws Uphold the public cause, And bless our isle; Home of the brave and free, The land of liberty, We pray that still on thee

Kind Heaven may smile.

Lord, make the nations see That men should brothers be, And form one family,

The wide world o'er.

W. E. HICKSON.

The Lord our God be with us, as He was with our fathers.- 1 Kings 8. 57.

1 My country,' tis of thee, Sweet land of liberty,

Of thee I sing;

Land where my father died, Land of the pilgrims' pride, From every mountain- side Let freedom ring.

2 My native country, theeLand of the noble, freeThy name I love;

I love thy rocks and rills, Thy woods and templed hills; My heart with rapture thrills Like that above.

3 Let music swell the breeze, And ring, from all the trees, Sweet freedom's song;

Let mortal tongues awake; Let all that breathe partake; Let rocks their silence breakThe sound prolong.

4 Our fathers, God, to Thee, Author of liberty,

To Thee we sing; Long may our land be bright With freedom's holy light; Protect us, by Thy might, Great God our King.

The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters.- Psa. 93. 4.

1 ETERNAL Father, strong to save.

Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,

Who bid'st the mighty ocean deep. Its own appointed limits keep; Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee For those in peril on the sea.
