A root of barley proceeding from a corn,. accidentally ſown amongſt a bed of quick, was lately plucked in a field of Mr. M. Reece of Swineſ- head, which had a hundred and ſeven ſtems, and nurtured as many ears-0f grain, almoſt every one of which was well filed.
At Reading fair, on Monday, September 23, there was a more plentifal ſupply of prime cheeſe than has been known for ſome years; the quantity Pitched was litrle le(3 than five hundred tons. The prices were on the de- cline. New cheeſe ſold on the average, from ſixty to ſeventy Millings per cwt.-=-old ditto, fxty-eight Mmillings to eighty hillings. The ſhew of hor(es was not ſo good as we have ſeen; but the beit went off at high prices.
'FPhere will be an annual market for fat ſtock at Newark upon Trent, on tie Wedyelday preceding the ſecond of Odober, being the fame day on which the checſe-market is annually held.
Mr. Weſton of Leicester has announced a New Work on the Natural History of Strawberries, deſcribing above ſeventy ſpecies and varieties» their native places of growtn, and introduction into England; with the modern improvementsin their cultivation, to have a regular ſucceſſion of fruit, in every month in the year- Embdbellilhed with ten Copper-platesz explaining the fructification of the Aower; the leaves, flowers and fruit ef their natural lize and color, with the Steam-Aue and water-fue for forcs ug them.
